G&G – IT’S MORE THAN SKIN DEEP!

Godding&Godding has been manufacturing luxury Silk products for bedroom, bath and body for many years now. For the past couple of years, I have become more and more concerned about all the waste we as humans create. We live in a highly disposable era and it is time to be more aware our waste and especially the plastic we throw away. The cosmetic industry is one of the most wasteful with millions of plastic containers thrown away on a daily basis.

It is this waste that has led to the creation of our new G&G range. Initially I wanted to create just 1 “miracle” cream that could be used from the face to the feet, for all your moisturizing needs. It would be packaged in recycled glass and could be refilled. After months of testing, trials and feedback G&G is finally ready to launch, however the original cream is now part of a new range that will cover all your daily skin care needs.

The G&G moisturizer is a revolutionary skin care product that can be applied as a daily moisturizer. It is suitable for all skin types, all ages, both sexes and any colour. Enriched with nature’s bounty, this cream will nourish, hydrate, heal and protect your skin. The cream contains all the wonderful, organic plant extracts that G&G use and includes Aloe Ferox, Rooibos, Marula & Baobab oil as well as the new addition of coconut oil and then of course pure silk. Full of vitamins, anti-oxidants, oleic acids and most amino acids the cream is rich yet non-greasy and is easily absorbed leaving ones’ skin healthy, soft and smooth.

In addition to the moisturizer is the new pure silk and organic marula skin oil. This exceptional oil is lovely and light enough to use on your face and around the eyes or simply add a few drops to your cream for added nourishment, especially in the dryer winter months or as and when you need it. Is the perfect tissue oil and can be used for skin healing as well as nourishment.

Completing the moisturizing range is the G&G body lotion (a thinner version of the moisturizer), lip balm and body butter. The lotion is perfect for face and body and may be preferred by men and younger customers as it is not as thick and rich as the moisturizing cream. The lip balm is really a lovely product that works extremely well. It is totally organic and really nourishing and will keep lips soft and healthy. The body butter is a rich, creamy butter that is perfect for really dry areas like feet, knees and elbows. It may also be used on hands, legs and arms if needed.

Added to the range are the following bathroom / shower products – all are natural and free of any chemicals in particular the shampoo. It is sulphate free and wont damage or dry your hair. The shampoo is enriched with silk, marula oil, aloe ferox and lemongrass for a fresh

fragrance. The conditioner is enriched with silk, shea butter, coconut and baobab oils and will leave your hair nourished and healthy without being oily. Both the shampoo and conditioner are suitable for all hair types and will not add harmful chemicals to your hair and the water system. The face & body wash is also a lovely gentle wash that is suitable for both face and body. It is naturally fragranced with cinnamon & clove powder which also acts as a safe and mild exfoliant. It will clean your face & body without stripping it of its natural oils and will maintain its ph balance, leaving your skin supple and clean.

Finally the last two products that complete the range are the sunscreen and face & body mist. With our sunscreen it is free of many of the harmful ingredients found in most sunscreens. The natural blockers are zinc oxide and titanium di-oxide both of which are human body, marine life and coral friendly. The sunscreen has an SPF factor of 50 and is moisturizing yet not oily. The face & body mist is an alcohol free spritzer and toner. It may be used as a toner to close pores and restore one’s ph balance, as a spritzer on hot days as well as an after sun should one be exposed to too much sun. It will not only relive the sting but also reduces peeling. The aloe, silk, rooibos, rose water and witch hazel also helps the face & body mist to alleviate burns as well as itchy skin.

All these products are packaged in beautifully printed containers and can be refilled. Even the lip balm tube can be easily refilled with the lip balm cubes. Not only are they exceptionally good for you and your body, they really do work and you will see a difference to your skin health, but they are also good for the environment. The fact that there are no harmful chemicals and parabens used in these products means that even the wash-off water entering your soak-aways and eventually the ground water table and/or storm water drains which can reach the ocean – will not cause any damage. In order to stabilize some of our products a natural alcohol is used in very small quantities to extend the shelf life to 12 months.

For those further away and without the direct refill option, we will be packaging all the products in refillable pouches. Although these are plastic – far less plastic is used in the making of these pouches than with plastic bottles. The transport costs and effort will be far less and they can easily be refilled, reused as your travel set and once done they can be recycled.

By reducing the need for plastic and especially single use plastic, you can begin making a difference right in your own home.
